Wine Tasting for Beginners - The Glass

A good wine glass is designed to direct the wine to the part of your mouth where its flavors will be most appreciated, thus giving you full benefit of that particular wine.

The bowl of a wine glass is slightly narrower at its opening than at the bottom. This design intensifies the aromas rising toward the nose and mouth. All good wine glasses are designed this way. Due to their complex flavors and aromas, red wine glasses have a larger opening and a larger bowl, allowing the wine to receive more air and better oxidation, and the space for the taster to really get his/her nose in there to detect, and perhaps determine the source of its aromas.

In all types of wine glasses, the bowl has to be large enough for swirling, allowing for oxidation and a good release of the wine's aromas. Many people bypass swirling, including yours truly, but it is a very important part of the tasting. Basically, it releases all the good stuff, and don't we all want the good stuff?

Here's what I have learned so far:

For Red Wines:

A Burgundy glass (shown above) is for a light, full bodied wine such as a Pinot Noir. It is not as tall as a Bordeaux glass, but the bowl is larger, which directs the wine to the tip of the tongue, an area that appreciates the more delicate flavors of wine.

A Bordeaux glass is taller than a Burgundy, with a slightly smaller bowl, designed for full bodied, heavier red wines such as a Cabernets. The shape of this of the glass allows the wine to go to the back of the mouth, where its flavors would be most appreciated.

For White Wines:

A white wine glass bowl will straight and u-shaped, allowing the release of aromas without greatly disturbing the temperature.

For young whites, the best glass has a slightly larger opening, directing the wine to the parts of the tongue where sweetness is best detected, the sides and tip.

For more mature whites, the glass will be straighter and taller, which directs the wine to the back and sides of the tongue to where the stronger flavors will be most appreciated.

A sparkling wine/Champagne glass (or flute) will be pretty straight and narrow for carbonation retention and to enhance the flavor.

Dessert wine glasses are typically smaller to direct the wine to the back of the mouth so the sweetness doesn't overwhelm. Also, dessert wines usually contain more alcohol, so the smaller glass is ideal.

Wine Glass Material

In order for an accurate wine evaluation, a thin, smooth and clear glass is what you want. This type of glass allows you to see the color and feel the texture of your wine. Obviously, crystal would be a good choice as well. Blown glass is also nice and thin. Thick glass makes for awkward sipping.

Obviously, purchasing wine glasses for your personal use is one thing, but for hosting events such as a wine tasting, having the right amount and right type of wine glasses could prove to be quite expensive. I'm going to do some investigating, but off the top of my head, I'm thinking Tuesday Morning, one of my favorite places. Right after Katrina, while I was still pretending my life hadn't been turned upside down, I purchased four wine glasses from a Tuesday Morning in Baton Rouge. I loved those glasses. Later, when reality set in, those glasses would prove to be one of my best and most reliable friends. I am so serious. They may have been Bordeaux glasses. All I know is, they felt really good in my hand, and the glass was thin, which I liked, but I'm digressing, aren't I? I'll expand on that period of my life at a later date. Another place may be World Market. I believe in quality and value, and I'm a pretty good bargain hunter, so know this - I will be researching this matter and letting you know what I find.

Has this been helpful to you? I have certainly learned a few things. Remember, I know little about the wine tasting process, so if anyone who reads this has helpful suggestions, they are very welcomed.

Christian Bale - Do We Really Need This Guy?

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,487205,00.html

First, he attacks his mother and sister. A few days later he screams at, curses, belittles and bullies the photography director for walking on set while filming, and turns on any and everyone who tries to calm him down. I know a crew member walking on set is a major flub, but Bale's over-reaction is a reflection of how big a jerk he is, and I'm being nice. I don't know who he thinks he is, but methinks he is a celebrity with average talent and not even average looks. Perhaps someone should take him aside and let him know that upgrading him would present very little challenge. While they're at it, they can explain karma to him, if they can get him to stop screaming and listen.

The Neti Pot

I've had a Neti pot for several months and never used it. Friday I had some sinus issues, and my boss mentioned his wife uses hers with good results. That evening I came home, took mine out of the box and used it according to the directions. It was relatively easy to use, not very uncomfortable, nor was it very messy, provided it's used over a basin.

I was very pleased with the results. Immediately, my sinuses were clear and the pressure relieved. If you have sinus issues, I recommend this product. If you use it, let me know what you think.

Wine Tasting for Beginners

As you may know, a group of friends and I are having a wine tasting next month. As previously mentioned, I know very little about the art of a proper wine tasting. I am doing my research and will know whatever it is you're supposed to know as a beginning wine taster. I do know that wine is supposed to 'breathe' for a time before it is tasted, in order to receive the fullness of the aroma and flavor. I saw this wine aerator on the Today Show, and may give it a try. The one shown above is by Vinturi.
Have you tried a wine aerator? If you have, what do you think? If you haven't, would you try it?

Saturday

Today, DirecTV, who can still slide into the depths of hell, is coming here to fix the satellite signal. I'll believe it when I see it. Robert is installing some shelves and my air conditioner. After that's done, I plan on leaving the house and doing something relaxing.

What are you doing this weekend? How is the weather?

Quote for the day

Wine Tasting for Beginners

The Importance of Breathing

Wines, specifically red wines, develop certain characteristics during the aging process: Bouquet, which is the smell; and taste. The older the wine, the lesser the need for breathing, or oxidation (adding oxygen in exchange for electrons). Wine actually goes through a very slow oxidation process in the bottle. So, the younger the wine, the more breathing it requires. A very young wine needs to breathe for several hours before consumption, while an older wine needs perhaps one hour. In fact, if a very old wine breathes too long it can lose some of its important characteristics. In some instances, breathing alone will not be enough, and the wine has to be decanted, or poured into a different recepticle. The act of decanting wine (usually only necessary in very young wines) aerates the wine and releases aromas and flavors.

Ruby and the Romantics - Our Day Will Come

Today is my parents' anniversary. Had they lived, they would have been married 42 years.

I believe they are together now, two overjoyed spirits not beleaguered by the cares of this earth.

My dad loved his music, and it seemed he played a little of everything. There are a few special songs that remind me of both my parents for different reasons. They played this song very often when I was a little girl. As I got older, it became part of that category of songs for me where the lyrics are simple, but intense. Like much of the music of days gone by, there's an innocence you no longer hear in today's music:

Our day will come, and we'll have everything

We'll share the joy falling in love can bring...

... Our dreams have magic because we'll always stay in love this way

Our Day Will come...

So, here's to you, Mama & Daddy. I know you didn't drink, but I will be toasting you tonight, and I'll do it up right. I imagine now you're looking at each other, shaking your heads and laughing.

I'm cool with that.

Quote of the Day

“All men dream: but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty recesses of their minds wake in the day to find that it was vanity: but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act their dreams with open eyes, to make it possible.”

Random Stuff

I'm participating, for the first time, in WOTC with Monnie 'nem right now. Interesting. I'll probably be visiting again. I like smart people with something to say.

I went to the dentist today. I have to replace a crown and get my wisdom teeth pulled.

It is warm and muggy right now, and my air conditioner is not connected because, well, it is January, and I just didn't think I'd need air conditioning.

I'm supposed to have my satellite repaired Saturday. So far, DirecTV has offered me $100, free HD service for 6 months and reimbursement for being without use of the equipment. This is in response to my informing them I would be looking for service elsewhere, and telling them why. We'll see what happens. I still say DirecTV is shit, and I can back up everything I say.

I have a lot of posts coming up, but who the hell is going to see them? I'll continue doing what I do, but don't be surprised if I repeat posts in the future, 'kay?

I feel sleepy. Think it's because I've had 3 glasses of wine?

Talk to you tomorrow!

Daddy's Little Girls - Tyler Perry

I watched this move twice yesterday (making it about the 8th time I've seen it). I really enjoyed it, and I'm not that easy to please. Those girls - precious. That mama? Want to whip her a$$. Gabrielle Union? Adorable. Idris deserves a post all his own, so...

To be continued, but you understand, right? Thought so.

Monday, Monday

Good Morning Folks!

I spent the first night in my house since August 27, 2005. Yes, I am glad to be back in, but it 's one of those things that has to grow. The sounds and spatial factor may take some getting used to, as it was difficult to fall asleep. I am operating on three hours of sleep, and have on more makeup than a drag queen, but not as pretty. Cinzia and Sasha are acting a little weird, too. We'll all be fine.

Couple of notes:

Even though it's not complete, I LOVE my room. I like my area rug, love my floors, and,

I love, love, love my chaise!

Let me see if I can find a picture of one like mine. There it is. Obviously, I like the look of it, but Honey, sitting on it is like BUTTAH! The leather is soft, and the tufts are nice and deeply padded.
I wonder if I'll love the rest of my bedroom furniture as much.
What's going on with you today?

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Wow

I scheduled this morning's quote several days ago. How did I know I would need it today?

I would say DirecTV's customer service sucks...

But they would have to improve for me to say that with a clear conscience. Thing is, they have the nerve to be polite while they insult your intelligence (they asked me if the box was plugged in), and very courteous while they transfer you over and over to what I have determined is the same effin department with a different name. Why else would every motherfcukin idiot I speak to ask me to do the same motherfcukin thing, even after I tell them I have done this twentyleven times? Someone was supposed to come to my house today at 5:30. I just got a call at work, at 2:30, from a technician who said he was at my house, outside. I called customer service and, surprise - they dont' even have a record of a service call, perhaps that's with another department. .

I am trying not to act a donkey with these people 'cause I want service on the tv in my bedroom tonight. It's really a challenge not to start yelling, but I'm supposed to be better than that. I'm supposed to be better than that. I am supposed to be better than that.

Let me not have service tonight.

Assholes!

Quote for Today

who travel the way with us. Oh, be swift to love! Make haste to be kind.”
- Henri Frederic Amiel, 1821 - 1881, Swiss writer known for his masterpiece Journal Intime

Take the time to make someone happy today. Be pleasant. This is advice I may need you to repeat to me later.

Congratulations to my BFF & Family, whom I shall call the Jovial family. In addition to Mr. & Mrs. Jovial, they have two beautiful daughters, Lilac and Lyric, and a sweet dog, Milo. Last week, the Jovial Family picked up a sister for Milo, and the Jovial Family will never be the same.

Wine Tasting for Beginners

I know very little about wine, except that I like what I like. So, some friends (who know as much as I do) and I have decided to educate ourselves. Our first wine tasting is set for next month. I'm looking forward to learning about this.
Here's what I've learned thus far:
There are three types of wine tastings:

General Tasting - There are no limitations on the wines that you involve. You may choose to limit the wines to a particular part of the world, or grape variety, or price range, or whatever criteria you select.

Horizontal Tasting - A Horizontal Tasting involves wines from the same vintage. You decide the vintage and any other limitations on the wines involved, such as grape variety, but, the wines will all be from a single vintage. A horizontal tasting is a good way to see which winery was most successful within a given year.

Vertical Tasting - A vertical tasting involves wines from different vintages but all the wines will come from the same winery. If the winery produces more than one type of wine, you would select a single wine from that winery and taste multiple vintages of that wine.

Bobbie Thomas

I love this chick. She's smart, her fashion sense is right on the mark with me, and she's adorable to boot. What do you think? Do you like the fashion sense of Bobbie Thomas?

It's Friday!!!

Saturday I'm working in the house - (surprise), waiting for a furniture delivery - I'm a little excited about that, and possibly having lunch with my aunt and cousins in Mississippi. For Sunday, I think I'll be staying home and cooking some Indian dishes, but who knows?
What's up for your weekend?

Quote for the Day

Mr. Vest Goes to Washington

Mr. Sylvester Williams and his son.

I came home a little early yesterday. As always, I let Cinzia and Sasha out of their crates to bring them to the backyard. While I am away, I leave the television on NBC, so the Nightly News was on. As expected, the broadcast was all about the inauguration, and Washington, D.C.’s preparation for the day’s events. I heard many stories that touched me, including the enormous generosity of Earl Stafford who, through his non-profit foundation made it possible for hundreds of Americans to attend the inauguration when it would otherwise be impossible. One of Mr. Stafford’s guests was Sylvester Williams, a one-hundred year old New Orleanian and Katrina survivor. This caught my undivided attention, as I know a Sylvester Williams who would be about that age and was a close friend and neighbor of my grandparents. Sure enough, I saw ‘Mr. Vest’ as we called him, being helped out of a car by two people and gently positioned in a wheelchair.

"Look at Mr. Vest!" I said to the dogs. (Yes, I talk to my dogs.) In response, they jumped around, twirled, then with tails a-wagging went right back to the door, waiting for me to let them out. Oh, well. What do they know?

NBC news anchor Brian Williams (love him, by the way), mentioned how Mr. Vest lived long enough to include cotton picking in his history. I never knew that. I did know that he, along with my grandfather and Mr. Raymond Johnson (another friend who lived in the neighborhood) built the house Mr. Vest would live in with his wife and family for over 50 years. Every day, after putting in a full day of hard labor, these three men continued to work until that house was built. After that, they started on my grandparents’ house around the corner. When that was completed, they built Mr. Johnson’s house a few blocks over. As Mr. Vest explained, things were different back then. People helped one another because it was the thing to do, and a man’s word was his bond. It is the way he has lived his life. He continued to help people well into his nineties, especially the elderly, many times assisting people younger than he. It didn’t really matter. If you needed help and he could give, it was done.

People and times have changed, and some of it is for the better. I go to any restaurant I want, sit wherever I want, and expect the best service. If I have a medical emergency, I go to the nearest hospital. I attend Mass at a church of my selection, go to the movies of my choosing, and sit where I want. I haven’t ridden the bus or a streetcar in years, but if I needed to I’d sit where I pleased, preferably up front. When I shop for clothes or shoes I do so freely and in any store. When I vote, I walk in, sign and cast my ballot. I can’t imagine not being able to do these simple things, but so many of the choices I have now were made possible only through the great suffering of people who came before me. Human beings who knowingly risked humiliation, attacks, imprisonment, and countless other atrocities that included death, all at the hands of other human beings, just to be treated fairly. Why? Because despite what they were told, they knew they were second to none, and deserved to be treated as such. Who am I to take this for granted? Unfortunately, it’s human nature to have less appreciation for those things which we do not earn ourselves. These easy elements in my life were acquired by the blood, sweat and tears of those who considered it just that important. Most of it took place before I was born, but the fruits of this labor will remain long after I'm gone. I could never adequately show gratitude for the price paid by so many, but I hold these privileges dear, and will do my best to make sure those who come after me understand just how precious these gifts are.

Mr. Vest had a huge celebration of his ninetieth birthday at a Baptist church on Paris Avenue. There, I heard countless instances of his service in some way, shape or form. I remember thinking how sharp he was for a nonagenarian. Ten years later, while I can certainly see a physical change, his mind seems as sharp as ever. He has outlived Miss Gladys, his wife, my grandparents, and Mr. Johnson. He has even outlived my parents. It is my hope that they all are watching today’s events from the best vantage point, along with all whose spirits would find joy in this most victorious of times.

I pictured Mr. Vest as a young man, picking cotton side-by-side with others like him, a generation of men and women who played the hand they were dealt, who witnessed just how unfair life could be, but praised God through it all. How, I wonder, would he have responded at that time, upon being told that he would live to see a Black president? There would be doubt, at the very least. At some point he may have even laughed. On this day, however, he cried. Through his tears, he looked up to Heaven and said:
"Thank you, Lord. The Lord has been good to me. I get to see the President, the
first Black President in the White House!"

Yes, Lord. Thank you indeed. Thank you for letting me come home early. Thank you for this glorious day and every last person behind it. Thank you for the generosity of Earl Stafford, and thank you for letting Mr. Sylvester Charles Williams be here to see it.

Sunday stuff

Today started out with lots of rain, but it was all done by 9 am and was sunny and cool the rest of the day. I woke up at 8:30, later than I expected, maybe because I took a decongestant and an antihistamine last night. I have been in a funk all day.

Someone was supposed to come today at 1 to look at my oven. He didn't show up, didn't call. I hate that!
I cooked two dishes - arroz con pollo and navy beans. I'll have lunch for most of next week. Bully for me.
My house seems huge, cold and drafty. There's an echo of every sound. The new floorboards creek when I walk on them. I wanted to get used to being in the house before I completely moved in, guess the only solution to feeling weird is to completely move in. It's not that I'm scared, just uncomfortable.

I wish people would visit me here more. I'm kinda disappointed, but I'll keep doing what I do. They'll show up eventually.

My hair needs a new style or something.

I found two blankets from my grandmother I had packed away for years. One she crocheted, and a gold blanket she had since before I was born. It stayed on her or my aunt's beds for as long as I can remember. I just washed both of them. The gold blanket will be put to use in my den as I lounge on my sectional, where there's storage in the ottoman when I'm not using it.

I love the smell of Downy fabric softener.

I feel better when I look better. May explain why I'm in such a mood. I look turrbul!

This week I'm going to set up my bedroom and bathroom.

I'm watching Ghost for the first time in years. Everyone does such a great job in this movie. Whoopi Goldberg is the bomb. Demi Moore does really good crying. Patrick Swayze does right by a pair of jeans.

I have to set up my bedroom, including the closet, and bathroom. Everything else is I need is already done.

Tonight I'm going to do my hair, lay out what I'm wearing tomorrow, pack up a lunch, and pray for a brighter outlook tomorrow.

What about you?

Saturday

It's a cold, crisp, sunny day in The Big Easy. I made a Saturday breakfast of eggs, grits, and sausage with orange juice and cappucino. I did some things around here with regard to actually moving from the trailer to the house, and talked to Roberto about putting up some shelves in the downstairs pantry and installing a new faucet and shower head in the bathroom upstairs. Roberto has a cold, so I suggested that we actually start the work next week.

I'll be leaving in a few for a mani-pedi, and to go to the grocery.

Sounds boring, huh?

Maybe I'll change it up a bit, maybe not. At any rate, I'll have good posts tomorrow.

What about you? What are you doing today?

Date Night

In the beginning of a relationship, is it still a given that the man pays for the date? How about after you've been dating a while?

Ladies, what would you do if at the end of the date you discover you're expected to pay?

Guys, do you think it's unfair to to assume you'll be paying?

Cold

It's cold this morning, at least by New Orleans standards.  I put on tights, something I almost never do, and they are living up to their name.  I am sucked in like a sausage, but I am warm, and I look cute.

I guess it's worth the trade-off, but I can't wait until it warms up.  I'm hot natured, but I cannot stand when my feet are cold!

It's supposed to be cold all week.  April can't get here fast enough.

What about you?  How is the weather where you are?  What extra bundling up do you do when it's cold?

Golden Globe Awards

Some observations...

Jennifer Lopez looks amazing.

Viola Davis looks fantastic - something about her looks more youthful than usual - almost schoolgirlish.

Don Cheadle wears a bald head beautifully.

Eva Mendes, who already has it going on, looks stunning, with turquoise bling around her neck (a Van Cleef and Arpels, circa 1974), laying on her beautiful caramel skin. Her stylist is brilliant.

Okay, the dress isn't bad, but Drew Barrymore should not have worn that color, I don't care if her eyeshadow does match (whoever said that was a look?), and that hairstyle is not flattering.

I love Ricky Gervais.

Johnny Depp is all about the work - I love that about him. Makes him sexy.

The stars must be in alignment - everybody's skin is is dewey, supple, shiny and healthy looking.

Maggie Gyllenhaal looks like she's wearing cheap sheets gathered with a rubber band at the shoulder, and a thick nylon elastic belt around her waist. No. Just, no.

Gerard Butler is hot.

I'm pulling for Slumdog Millionaire, drumroll...

YEAH!! Best screenplay - Motion Picture - Slumdog Millionare!!!
Best Original Score.
Best Producer.
BEST MOTION PICTURE!

Okay, Monk didn't win. You know I was pulling for Tony Shalhoub. It's okay. He's won many awards and has already proven himself.

What in the hell is Renee Zellweger wearing? Some kinda wide, fishtail thing that's solid black from the waist down, sheer black at the top, with what looks like a white t-shirt underneath - whatever.

Laurence Fishburne should not have worn that red tie.

Who let Tracy Morgan take the mic?

Steven Spielberg is the man. That's all.

A quasi aside: I love the Irish!

The co-stars of Slumdog Millionaire are adorable!

Mickey Rourke won Best Actor, Drama, for his work in The Wrestler. I loved Mickey Rourke a long time ago. I believe it was during the time of Year of the Dragon. Apparently, he's still has it, at least in terms of acting. I'm sure there's a story behind the indoor, nighttime sunglasses, the hair, and the skin that looks a leeeeetle too tight for a mature man such as Mr. Rourke, but when I look at him, I'm taken back to that time when he was brilliant and beautiful, and I absolutely loved him.

I pray no one is this stupid!

Some sleazebag had the unmitigated gall to put this in my inbox:

Hello,

I am Mr Abu Bakar Bin Saud from Malaysia.

Some years back,I invested some amount of money with an investor in
Ontario , Canada and it has yeilded some reasonable interest which is due
payment.

I wanted the Due-funds transferred to my account by Swift, but the issuing
said company/Investor that they cannot transfer more than Five Thousand
Dollars to any bank account outside North America/south America within one
month (30days).

Meanwhile,I have tried to open an account with Bank-One in Texas and
Washington Mutual in California in United States but I need to be
physically presence to sign the mandate. I must confess that this is not
possible now because I am medically down to make such a long distance trip.
So,i was told to provide a contact in Canada,or United States of America to
receive the funds on my behalf.

I am in need of your assistance on this matter, if you could help receive
the funds and forward to me. Sincerely, you are not going to face any risk
in rendering assistance.

AND PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAN YOU ARE NOT SPENDING ANY MONEY ON THIS AND I
WILL OFFER YOU 12% OF THE MONEY YOU RECEIVE.

Once i received your response,I will send you the contact details of the
investor in Canada so that you can open talk with him.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours Truely,
Mr AbuBakar Saud.

This kind of thing truly, truely burns me up!

Marty - 1955

The first time I saw this movie, I was in high school and it was at my dad's insistence. If he enjoyed something, it was a given that my siblings and I should enjoy it too. If you didn't enjoy it the way he did, there was something wrong with you. That's just the way he was. What he enjoyed most at that time was a new VCR and an expanding movie collection. We spent a greater part of that summer getting acquainted and reacquainted with the classics. Before we began watching Marty, Daddy explained this was a 'sleeper' hit, meaning it won critical acclaim despite great things not being expected at the time of the film's release. It was nominated for eight Oscars and won four, picked up two awards at Cannes, including the Golden Palm, won a Golden Globe, and many others. Even today, this is impressive.

If you haven't seen it let me set it up for you without spoiling it:

The story is of Marty Piletti (played excellently by Ernest Borgnine), a thirty-something bachelor who lives and works in the Bronx with his beloved, widowed mother. It's at her urging that Marty attends a dance at the famous Stardust Ballroom. While there, he witnesses a woman named Clara (again, excellent portrayal by Betsy Blair), being dumped about two minutes into a blind date. Marty comes to Clara's rescue, and they seem to hit it off. That's all I'll say.

I loved this movie for a few reasons. First, the entire movie was well acted. Mrs. Piletti, played by Esther Minciotti, was the typical overbearing mother who wants her son to settle down, yet isn't quite ready to let him go. What I liked most is the honesty of this movie. It deals with feeling 'not good/smart/pretty enough' and the emotions that come with it, in a raw, sincere manner. In a time when movies swept many of life's unpleasantries under the rug, Marty took its issues head on and put the hurt front and center. There's also a "wait a minute - what am I thinking!" moment that merits mentioning.

If you've seen it, let me know what you think. If you haven't, I believe you'll be pleased when you do. If you don't love it, my daddy was right - there is something wrong with you!

Sunday Morning In the House

I'm sitting in my house on the sectional my son recently moved from downstairs to the den upstairs. It's quite comfortable. As is my custom on Sunday mornings, I've put on the music I feel like hearing. It's an eclectic mix with a recurring theme - right now I'm listening to Billy Joel's Just the Way You Are. Before that, Chante Moore's Love's Taken Over, and before that, Chicago's Just You and Me. Picked up on a theme yet? If there's any doubt, Al Green's L-O-V-E Love is now playing? Get it? Got it? Good.

When I burned this CD in the early summer, I was really feeling it. I had someone in my life I was diggin like crazy, who, after years of a 'dry spell' reawakened my hope for the possibility of a relationship that went deep. Butterflies in the stomach, missed him when he was gone, goofy grinning when he called. It's a lovely stage, and one I hadn't had in years.

Unfortunately, it took about a month for things to turn to dirt. (That's Sunday morning talk. Also, the issues that led to our demise are a story for another post.) He still calls from time to time, and I am polite, but there is nothing in the world this man can offer to entice me to voluntarily sit at any table with him. I am grateful to him for one thing, though. Despite things not working out between us, my renewed hope for something beautiful did not die. I vow never again to get into that kind of funk.

I don't know who or where he is. I may have already met him. I just know there is one who gets me, who loves me, and will allow me love him the way I want. Until we're joined, I'm going to continue enjoying my life. Once we're joined, we'll enjoy it together.

Okay, I gotta go now. Al Green is singing I'm So Glad You're Mine, and I must sing with him. This requires my full attention. Besides, I can't post with my eyes closed - yet.
